4 Days Primate Trekking In Uganda

Tour Overview

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be picked by our driver who will transfer you to the hotel.

Itinerary

After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Bunyonyi located on the eastern side of Bwindi impenetrable national park. Your guide will make stopovers at the equator for photograph and lunch in Mbarara town. You will then drive past banana plantations, farms, and beautiful hills of Kigezi for your overnight stay.

After your early morning breakfast, your guide will drive you to the park headquarters for briefing and joining others for gorilla trekking. You will start your trek which can take from 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on the location of mountain gorillas on that particular day. Once you have found them, you will be around one hour of observation and photography before returning back to the park headquarters for certificate and overnight stay.

After breakfast, we will drive to Kibale forest national park for overnight stay. This journey will take you through queen Elizabeth national park with chances of spotting some wild games as we drive through the savanna dominated national park. You will have a chance to cross the equator for the second time and crossing several rivers that originate from mountain Rwenzori. Enjoy a lunch break in fort portal town before checking in at the hotel for overnight stay.

After breakfast, you will to Kibale national park headquarters for briefing and then chimpanzee trekking in the forest. You will be divided into small groups of 6 people headed by one guide who will then move with you into the forest to find one of the chimpanzee parties. Chimpanzees live in communities of 50-150 individuals but break up into small parties during the day to reduce competition on food.  They will then recollect in the evening to build their nest. You will be allowed one hour with the chimps before returning back for lunch and then a wetland walk in the nearby Bigodi village. Kibale national park is popular for primates and birds. 12 primate species have been recorded.

Chimpanzee permits costs USD 150 per person

After breakfast, you will drive to Kampala/Entebbe for your post accommodation (not included) or to Entebbe international airport for your departure flight.

TRANSPORTATION

Standard: 4*4 safari van

Our standard mode of transport is by road and we use 4*4 safari vans customized for game viewing and photography. Each safari van comes with professionally trained driver guide and fuel for the whole safari. Our safari vans have viewing hatches and each client is entitled to a window seat. Our vans can take up to 8 people.

Upgrade:4*4 luxury safari land cruiser

We have luxury latest land cruisers each driven by professionally trained driver guides and fuel. They have pop up roofs for proper game viewing and photography. They come with a small fridge for cooling your drinks water while on safari (which is always provided while in the vehicle). They have inverters for charging small gadgets such as smart phones and cameras. They can seat 5 to a maximum 7 people and each client is guaranteed of a window seat.

NOTE: gorilla permits costs USD 600 per person and these are booked as early as possible so as to guarantee availability since they are on high demand. Chimpanzee permits costs USD 150 per person but these are included in the cost.
